Do's and Dont's for a Beach Wedding in St. Lucia

So you’ve decided to skip the traditional, and take the leap to an unforgettable, tropical beach wedding. There’s no going wrong with a beach wedding in the Caribbean, especially with Rendezvous, but there are a few things you might want to keep in mind to get the most out of your Big Day.

It’s going to be hot: And maybe a little windy. Hey, it’s outdoors, and you’re on an island… it comes with the territory.

  • Ladies, try opting for an updo to maintain that picture perfect look your stylist worked so hard to create. Avoid long veils, especially if it’s windy as they may get in the photographer’s way. Keep in mind that sand and sky scraper heels may not be the best idea… Opt for something sand appropriate, or implement a sand station where guests can trade up their heels for flip flops!
  • Gents, you may want to wear a light cotton undershirt that will absorb sweat and help keep you dry. Depending on the time of your ceremony, you may want to reconsider the traditional tuxes, because of the heat factor. Go for lighter colours and fabrics. Informal can be appropriate, but only if it’s done right. Wedding planners recommend light weight cotton pants or even Bermuda shorts.
  • Be sure to keep sunblock handy, and put some on before you get down to the beach for the ceremony.

st. lucia wedding with champagneLight and Airy does the trick: You’re probably not going to want to be wearing layers and layers of fabric. That doesn’t mean you should go for a dress any less exquisite than the one you’ve had your heart set on since, forever.  Aim for a dress that’s gorgeous, yet won't make you uncomfortable and unhappy. Float down the beach in fabrics like chiffon or charmeuse.

Just go with it: There’s going to be that adorable hummingbird dancing around your champagne glass, in an apparent protest at not being invited, or maybe that slight gust of wind that you fear may defy the hold of your hair spray, but these are hardly experiences that will mar the experience. It’s an outdoor wedding, embrace the beauty that surrounds you.

Captivated onlookers:

If you’re getting married on a public beach, chances are a couple guests may stick around, looking on as you and yours say those magic words that officially mark the beginning of your lives together. No worries, they’re harmless, and their best wishes for couples to live happy EverAfter are from the heart!

Prepare for the Unexpected:

You never can tell what you’re going to get when it comes to Caribbean weather, but on the upside, it’s mostly sunny on these shores, and even if it’s not, drizzles equate to showers of blessings, confirmation that you’re exactly where you need to be. Feel free to ask the Rendezvous wedding planning team about an indoor backup alternative.

Last but not least: Speak up when exchanging your vows, lest your words get blown away with the wind. The most important tip of all is to be happy. It’s your big day, and the staff at Rendezvous are going to ensure that it’s absolutely remarkable!
