Pre St. Lucia Wedding Detox at Rendezvous

Aside from the wedding décor, attire, invites, planning and ensuring everything looks spectacular, why not focus on how you feel on the inside?
Detoxification is a process that is mental and spiritual as much as it is physical. If you don’t feel and believe that you are truly cleansing yourself then the effect probably won’t be as intensive as it has the potential to be. Fortunately the Caribbean is a great place to start up a detox, just in time for your St. Lucia wedding at the Rendezvous Couples Resort. Known as the salt water flush, copious amounts of water, balanced by a reasonable sodium (read: salt!) intake will also greatly assist in the body’s detoxification process, as hydration is the single most important element of a healthy, functioning body.
Yoga is a great way to reduce stress, both physically and mentally. Stretching your muscles regularly reduces lactic acid buildup, reducing that tired, overworked feeling of day to day life. When the body is relaxed on the outside, everything on the inside will function at peak levels, speeding up the detoxification process.
Green tea, being loaded with antioxidants is a great diet additive, particularly when it comes to detoxing the liver/blood/kidneys. Drinking one or two cups a day will work wonders in purifying the body.
Hot water and lemon. It’s as simple as that. Cut a slice of lemon, place into a glass and top with water. Drinking a glass of lemon water, preferably at room temperature, every morning before having breakfast can help colon function, allowing a far greater percentage of vitamins and other nutrients to be absorbed from your morning meal.
Yum! Nothing like a green smoothie to strike the balance in life, health and happiness. If it’s made well this smoothie works wonders, and one or two smoothies a day, for a couple days leading up to your wedding is ideal. Taken in the right quantities, green smoothies are nutritious and filling enough to allow you to skip a meal. Ingredients worth considering for the ultimate detox or added flavor include: acai, goji, apple, lemon juice, kale, broccoli, manuka honey (in particular) and a host of other nutritious veggies.
Here’s one recipe that works wonders:
- 10 spinach leaves
- 1 celery stalk
- ½ cucumber
- 25g or 1 oz parsley
Process all ingredients through a vegetable juice extractor then into a plastic jug. Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Serve with ice or chilled if desired.
